I hear so often that people think they are "meditating wrong" or it "just didn't work out for them." Confused and sometimes exhausted with trying, many didn't give meditation a chance to change their lives because they assume that there is some magic formula on how to do it. Let me inform you today, in case no one else has, that there is NO perfect way to meditate! You can meditate every day for years and still have days where you can't keep your mind calm, and you are constantly shoving conversations, ideas, and lists of what you have to do out of your mental space.
The biggest trick on how to get good at meditation and let it make a lasting impact on your existence: consistency. The more you meditate, taking the time out for yourself to quiet your mind and feel at peace, the more your body and your mind will get used to the act and will comply to being calm and in tune with yourself. It doesn't matter if you are meditating every day for two minutes, twenty minutes, or two hours, all that matters is that you are doing it and you are doing it consistently. Find a car, find a closet, do it in a bathroom at the mall- I don't care! Just make sure to find that mental time out for yourself on a daily basis, and you will eventually see the results not only in your mental health, but in your physical health and in your interactions with those around you!
Mediation is an art that can take a lifetime to learn what works for you; it is not a sprint to a magical finish line or a quick pill to take to "fix" yourself. You have to put in the work and the time on a consistent basis to see the benefits it can bring to every aspect of your life.
